On-Line Homework Club

Who are we?
We are one of the subsidiary projects that are under the umbrella of the registered charity Lighthouse Education Service. We are a non- profit making educational service provider with a significant interest in the Kennington/ Vauxhall area since 2001.

Why do we do it?
The On-Line Homework Club is an after school club designed to help meet the government objectives of raising educational standards among children at primary school level. It is different from conventional homework clubs because emphasis is placed on computer-based learning using state of the art facilities.

What are our aims and objectives?
The main objectives of homework club are to:

  Provide Ks1 and 2 children with a safe and secure environment in which to extend their learning opportunities.

  Raise educational standards amongst children at primary level

  Support schools in meeting specific educational targets for individual children.

  Bridge the IT divide by providing access to learning via technology.

  Raise children's self- esteem by helping to positively modify and ultimately change behaviours through educational achievement.

  To support families especially single parents by assuming responsibility for their children after school in a positive learning environment.

We have been providing this service in the community since September 2001 and are now based at

When are we open?
The On-Line Homework Club runs Monday to Friday 3-6pm term time only.

Who can benefit?
Any child from 6-11 years old who attends Vauxhall Primary School, St Anne's RC Primary School, St Mark's C of E Primary School, and Walnut Tree Walk Primary School. The children are picked up from school in our mini bus and brought to the club.

Open day
We are open every day and parents are welcome at anytime, but we have an open day once a year where we showcase the children’s newly acquired skills. Parents have this opportunity speak informally to all staff involved in their child’s education.

How much do we cost?
The fees are £12.50 per week and we expect children to come every day.

What else do we do?
The online Homework club has in previous years organized a narrow boat trip on the grand union canal an a weekend sleep over at the Science Museum. We try to organise at least one trip a year.
