Wisdom and Family

Wisdom and Family

Theme: Men of Wisdom – Concerning Wisdom and Family. We love our fathers. They can be brilliant, even geniuses and yet, at the same time, be unable to manage. Christian fathers need the wisdom to manage their families to succeed as fathers.

It is only God who gives us to one another. Once we are set on serving God, we can bring out something good in our family. The men have been given by God the responsibility of being the head of the family. To do this, they need the knowledge to administer that role. However, wisdom is needed to make that knowledge work for the best benefit of their wives and children.

Key Scripture: James 3:13-18

There is more than one kind of wisdom, but the wisdom that will build up a family only comes from God.

The things taught by other people expressed in “me only”, “Win at all costs”, or “I will have the last word” ah what the Bible describes as worldly wisdom, Anything that expresses envy and self-seeking will destroy the family. Consequently, it should be avoided.

On the other hand, Godly wisdom is pure, peace-loving, gentle, willing to yield and brings out the best in all family members. Those who are strong, physically and in character, must use their strength considerately. God has designed the godly family to be a source of love, support and strength. There are practical things you can do to achieve this kind of family. Find out more by listening to the sermon:

Child Dedication

Jude and Priscilla brought their child for dedication this morning. Genesis 18:19 reads, “For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.” There were conditions. In Deuteronomy, parents are expected to teach their children God’s statutes.

It is a challenge because so many forces want to shape your child for you, contrary to your faith. It is a pressure for parents. Yet we have instructions that will help us. We must be diligent to teach what it means to please God.

We affirm Jude as a father and head of the family and pray for him as he supports his wife and children.

Children’s Church Presentation

The Children’s Church presented a small play on the importance of Father’s Day.

Blessing from the Women’s Leader

Deaconess Tope Ayiere stood up to affirm all the fathers in the building on behalf of the church’s women. She had a blessing for all the men in the building. “Our prayer for a our fathers and spiritual fathers is that God will continue to shine His light on your path and lead you, as you lead us. Thank you, we appreciate you.”
