This year marks a powerful milestone, as the Apostolic Church celebrates 110 years, the 110 Reasons to Celebrate team is stepping forward in faith and compassion. In partnership with our International Relations Apostle and former Malawi missionary, Pastor Alan Skene, we are on a mission to bring lasting change to the nation of Malawi.
Every year, our AC family in Malawi faces a heart-breaking cycle. Droughts scorch the land, destroying crops and livelihoods. Then, when the rains finally come, they often arrive as destructive floods, washing away what little remains. For too long, we have responded with emergency aid — meeting urgent needs but never ending the crisis.
But what if we could change the story?
The vision of ACUK is bold yet beautifully simple: instead of repeatedly buying food to send, we purchase land in a region less vulnerable to extreme climate conditions. On this land, crops can be grown sustainably — feeding the hungry in seasons of hardship and generating income in times of stability. It’s not just relief. It’s resilience. It’s dignity. It’s transformation.
With £20,000, we can plant more than seeds. We can plant hope, security, and a future.
To lead the charge, Ps Alan undertook an extraordinary challenge: running 110 miles starting on 10 March in four days along the breathtaking Fife Coastal Path — a journey of endurance, faith, and purpose.
This is more than a fundraiser. It’s a declaration that together we can break cycles of crisis, empower communities, and bring lasting provision where it’s needed most. Because one act of generosity can echo for generations. The Apostolic Church Malawi is seeking to move from dependency on relief to a sustainable agricultural programme, that empowers the church to be able to feed its members in times of need.
