Mission Pecs Summer Update

Mission Pécs Christmas Update 2023

‘Hope has arrived’ was the preached message for our Advent Service in Kertváros on Sunday December 3rd. This was our highest-ever attended event, with almost 30 children and nearly 20 adults – all visiting from the local neighbourhood. The events involved much planning from the excellent local team. Anita led the children’s club, and Timi and Eszti had been very active in sourcing the best food and presents to give out to 15 families. These packages included a Bible for each family.

We have confirmed a partnership agreement with the local charity, Mosolymanó, regarding developing a garden space that has much potential. In 2024, we will investigate possibilities for a local engineering firm to replace the broken garden fence. Please pray that our request is met with favour. Mosolymanó had an article in the local city newspaper this week describing how they were helping families.

In Pécs, our church planting project is called ‘Eden’. We have a Hungarian-language Facebook page (eden7632) and an Instagram account (eden7632pecs). ‘7632’ is the Hungarian postcode for the Kertváros suburb.

As we reflect on 2023, we join you in thanking God for the marvellous local team in Kertváros. They have held new responsibilities, welcomed new workers and grown in passion for the people of Kertváros. Please pray for the addition of new members who will lift our outreach to the next, higher level.

Last month, I received an unusually clear vision where God showed me the (as yet unborn) new congregation. It was a great encouragement to ‘see’ and ‘hear’ the future worshipping community. It felt like God had sent me a worship recording from the future. I am looking forward to visiting it!

Hope has arrived in Kertváros.
We wish you a very Happy Christmas,

Ps. Nigel and Rachel Bainbridge.
