Mission Pecs Summer Update

Mission Pécs: Prayer Walk Update around Kertváros March 2024

Mission Pécs update received from Ps. Nigel. Bainbridge – the update from the prayer walk around the town of Kertváros in Hungary.

Here is a brief update from the last week of March that Marcus Abbot and I spent in Pécs.

Almost every metric of Eden is expanding. We will now ask to rent the Melinda Utac Community Centre for our Saturday meetings. Hopefully, this will be available from June.

There were 30 people in Mosolymanó for the worship event this weekend, about a third of whom were children. The children’s club is like Messy Church—all the parents stay and listen to the teaching and get involved in the activities! We have confirmed interest from three people in doing Alpha. We are working on plans to start next month. Ten Easter food bags were given out to families. All the children at the club received an Easter gift package.

More and more people seem to be aware and interested in the garden project. We are forming a small working group to manage the publicity opportunity of the garden regeneration.

A bank account is going to be set up for the new church. Marcus and I attended a children’s Easter event in the community garden that we will renovate. Andrea—our charity manager—was leading this, and we chatted with her. Her friendship is warm and close. She is hoping to be elected as a councillor for Kertváros.

We viewed a former heating control building to assess if it was a suitable venue for Eden. In summary, the building is inappropriate, but the conversation about getting to this agreed decision and the value of growing context with the deputy mayor’s office was undoubtedly valuable.

Marcus and I met with Niki and AC Pastor Joci. We expect a significant change to Eden this September when we increase to fortnightly or weekly services. Pastor Joci’s AC church will fully assist with this.

The local Mission Pécs leadership team has a superb attitude toward each other and visitors. They are growing in their leadership capacity, but this will need to keep growing.

Prayer Walk Update – Kertváros March 2024

Thank you for your prayers and support. God is breathing strongly through Mission Pécs. The challenge and prayer request is to maintain focus, accept the challenge and develop sufficiently to be an acceptable conduit for the Good News.

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,”
