This post summarizes the Mission Pécs update for September 2024
Peter and Dorina, leaders of the Eden church, are actively caring for Timmy, who had a stroke, and Anita, whose daughter had a serious medical crisis in Greece. The church is thriving, with a weekly Bible study and plans to add praise and worship sessions. They are also organizing two children’s clubs and two community Bible studies monthly, starting in October. An outing in September helped reconnect with community members. Richie, a participant in the Alpha course, may return to the church after making a personal commitment to Jesus. The church is described as in a growth phase, likened to a gestation period. Volunteers are needed for monthly children’s clubs and community work.
Eden Church’s Community Outreach and Support
- Peter, the leader of the Eden church, and Dorina are doing well and are particularly caring for Timmy and Anita.
- Timmy had a stroke in July, and Anita had a serious medical crisis while on holiday in Greece, requiring an operation.
- The Hungarian consulate in Greece provided help, and Anita and her family will be returning to Hungary on Thursday.
- Peter and Dorina are hosting a weekly Bible study in their house, and they plan to add a time of praise and worship.
Expansion and Community Engagement Plans
- Peter and Dorina live in a detached house, providing space for community gatherings.
- Starting from October, there will be two children’s clubs and two Community Bible studies happening in a community center.
- An Alpha course was run in February, March, and April, which led to meaningful conversations with a man named Richie.
- Richie attended the Faith Church in Paige but recently left and may return to Eden Church, indicating potential growth for the Eden Church.
Building Relationships and Community Connections
- An outing on September 7th involved a walk around a local lake, aiming to connect with people who hadn’t been around for a while.
- Peter and Dorina are described as being in it for the long haul, focusing on loving people and building relationships in the community.
- Dorina likened the growth of Eden Church to a gestation period, emphasizing its gradual and nurturing nature.
Thank you for your interest and support. Please continue praying for us and volunteers to attend monthly children’s clubs and community work.
