Prayer
Hymn: My Hope is Built on Nothing Less
This morning, begin by declaring your trust in the foundation of death and resurrection of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Sometimes we rush into God’s presence. Take time to do a self-evaluation. Slow down before you run into the presence of the King!
Even if you are already a Christian, pray this prayer as a re-dedication:
“Lord, I want to thank and love you. I give my heart to you, Lord. Come into my life, come into my heart. Have your way in my life. Be my saviour. Be my Lord. Come and dwell inside of me and have your way instead of mine. Cleanse and wash me in the blood of Jesus and make me presentable before the Father. I ask this in the name of Jesus! Amen.
Pray that we should know the power to live as Christians. We should have our eyes open to see what the Lord wants us to do! Our leaders should be recipients of God’s wisdom! Ask the Lord to empower you to be part of the work to return in holiness, standing firm against all who oppose, the sniper and the sapper!
This world desperately needs peace. Pray that the Lord would put his hand on the troubles we are facing and calm them, bringing peace!
The sick and those who care for them need our prayers this morning. Pray for all that they may have the strength to continue and to share God’s love, even in the darkest times.
What Makes a Church a Home?
Spiritual Song: Create in me a Clean Heart (Lyrics)
Elder Soji shared, “what makes a church a home!” You can relisten here.
Let us pray that our attitude and behaviour may be forgiven had we not allowed Kennington to be a home for other people. We need the wisdom to live together. Ask the Lord that we may have the insight to relate to one another. Pray that we should have the spirit to receive rough diamonds as they come into Kennington. We should have to love to see the good in them and one another.
Kennington cannot be a home if it is untidy and untended. Pray that we should take the initiative to step forward when something needs to be done.
We must be there for one another. It isn’t easy. Pray that we should have the strength and wisdom to see when our brother or sister needs us! We need to know the commanded blessing of unity in Psalm 133.
How do we improve ourselves?
If we want people to find us as Kennington attractive, we must improve.
Prepare yourself as those on the World stage instead of just your locality. Do not prepare as if you are participating in the village games but in the World Olympics. Some of us are the best singers in our bathroom until someone asks what the noise is.
We must improve ourselves.
None came forward to indicate that they took time to consider how they improve themselves as instructed last week. This in itself is an irony. We must improve.
Elder Charles prayed for us. Consider 2 Timothy 2:15, 20-22.
