Prayer
Chorus: Praising the Lord
Breaking the vow of silence. We encourage all to participate in the prayer meeting, in prayers, and in contributions.
The key scripture for thanksgiving: Psalm 136 We each of us take time to give thanks because we are here today and able to praise God in the land of the living!
God Carried us Through
What does it mean – “God carried us through”?
Exodus 6:6-7 He carries us in many different ways.
Psalm 105:13-15 “And he permitted no one to do them wrong.”
Consider our theme from Matthew 16:18 “I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it”
Not Business as Usual
During the prophetic word given on watch night, one phrase popped up multiple times: “It’s not going to be business as usual.” Give thought to what that means. During Martin Luthor King’s “I have a dream” speech, he talked about the “tranquilising drug of gradualism” – we will do it bit by bit. This is not what God does.
Let us pray for the covering under the *blood of Jesus, and for the anointing of God for the task upon us in the year ahead.
*The blood of Jesus refers to the atoning sacrifice made by Jesus on our behalf – just as the blood of the Passover lamb covered the Israelites when the plague brought death on Egypt. Jesus’s sacrifice covered our sins and sicknesses and brought us back into relationship with God, the father of creation. Ref: Isaiah 53.
Homework
Consider, write and bring something next week on the subject of “What happens when we pray?”
Brother John Livingston will bring a word on Philippians 2:13.
