Saturday Morning Prayer – Captain of Israel’s Host

What is the theology of the song “Captain of Israel’s Host” by Charles Wesley? The Saturday Morning Prayer Meeting welcomes everyone to the blacksmith’s table. Stoke the fire and see the transformation!

Prayer

Chorus: In the morning, early in the morning…

Praise the Most High God, Who has poured His love upon us this morning!

Give thanks for the impending return to in-person services on Sunday, 2 April. How wonderful will it be that we should meet one another face to face once more!

Exodus 12:13 – Revelation 12:11 – Pray for the overcoming power that causes the wrath of God to pass over. Declare – I cover under the blood:

  • myself and everyone related to me
  • all the members of my family (mention them by name)
  • my home, my finances, my marriage and my ministry
  • the works of my hands

Captain of Israel’s Host – Theology

Hymn: The Captain of Israel’s Host

Key Scriptures: Exodus 13:17-18, 20-22, Joshua 5:13-15

The song pictures a people on a journey towards the land provided by their God. Pastor Sam shares.

Consider the line – “Our end, the glory of the Lord.” What is the chief end of man? Consider this article from the Westminster Catechism.

Homework

Consider Proverbs 3:5-6 and write something on “How do I acknowledge Him in all my ways?”
