Love Mission to Rwanda, Burundi and Kenya

This is the update received from the TAC Walthamstow Team on the Love Mission to Rwanda, Burundi and Kenya.

Today, we visited Muyinga province Ruganirwa village in the nation of Burundi.

These are from the Batwa tribe, the indigenous and marginalised community. We fed four hundred children, but the village has about eight hundred children from one hundred and forty families. Here there is no electricity, running water and no toilets.

Jane Kamau of BCOM Ministry leads this project. See www.burundioutreach.org. She drove us to the rural areas to see them, a three-and-a-half-hour journey by road.

As you can imagine, many projects here in Burundi strive to alleviate poverty. It is a mountain and sometimes feels overwhelming. But we must never give up hope. Do pray for the seemingly forgotten Batwa tribe people. Thank you for allowing us to be here. Your support has been our humanity face-to-face.

Love Mission

Jane and her staff graciously allowed us to serve them the provided porridge. May God continue to give us all strength. Love you all. Thank you again to all our UK supporters and partners. As you can see, we hung out with these children, giving them a special treat of two sweets/candy.

About the children of the Batwa Tribe

The children of the Batwa tribe in Muyugi Burundi. They are forgotten to a degree and known as pygmies. Some are malnourished and have jiggers, a foot disease that they and their families had contracted. Jane and her dedicated staff administer medical treatment for it.

Their village has no functional toilets. We saw three latrines for this whole community.

Jane’s team continues to work with them to provide a reasonable amount of education and to give them hope and a future. I could not but give respect to this lady and the several projects that she runs. Formidable is but only one word to describe her tenacity.

The triumph of love is to come beside and alongside, to see what we are seeing, feel what they are feeling, and act in simple and measured ways to help alleviate their poverty.

Hearing these children sing will be with me for a very long time.

Thank you, partners and God’s people, for allowing us to touch humanity with the Love of God and his son Jesus Christ.
