Overcoming Shame

Theme: Empowered to Confront and Conquer Shame – Shame is a powerful emotion; one that many of us have felt, are currently facing, or may encounter in the future. Regardless of age, intellect, social standing, or spiritual maturity, shame has a way of creeping into our lives. It doesn’t just affect one area, it can impact us emotionally, physically, financially, and spiritually. And while we often try to hide it, there are moments when shame becomes painfully visible. That’s when it hurts the most.

Let’s face it: Shame is something we all want to bury. Yet, it often resurfaces in ways we least expect. It distorts our identity, damages our relationships, and hinders our ability to live freely. Moreover, it convinces us that we are alone in our struggle. But here’s the truth, shame is not the final word!

The Good news: Hope in God’s word

Thankfully, Scripture offers a powerful promise. Isaiah 61 reminds us that Christ came to exchange our shame for double honour. This isn’t just comforting it’s transformational. Through faith in God, we are assured that those who believe in Him will never be put to shame.

Romans 10:11 confirms this:

“Everyone who believes in Him will not be put to shame.”

This verse is a declaration of freedom. It invites us to step out of shame and into the fullness of life God has prepared for us.

In this eye-opening sermon, Pastor Edwin Bajomo dives deep into the topic of shame. He explores:

  • What shame is and where it comes from
  • The damaging effects of shame on our lives
  • Practical steps to overcome shame and embrace freedom

Importantly, he highlights that overcoming shame is a partnership, God has His role, and we have ours.

Overcoming Shame

Join Us

We meet in person at the All Nations’ Centre, Tyers Terrace, London SE11 5LY. You are very welcome to join us. All our Sunday Services start at 9.30 am. The doors open at 8.30 am, and the prayer service begins at 9 am. The All Nations’ Centre is where the community meets with God as a congregation. Please help us to make it a welcoming environment for all.

There are many advantages to meeting together. As the writer of the book of Hebrews writes, “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25) Do not miss this opportunity to meet and encourage your brothers and sisters! Often, we provide personal ministry and one-to-one encounters. Do not miss the opportunity to meet with God and be transformed.
