The final session of three concluded the Turning training session at the All Nations’ Centre, but it is only the beginning. Pastor Dapo led participants quickly through the discipling course topics. The Turning App includes a full discipleship course that introduces the new believer to the basics of Christian in 9 hourly sessions. That’s not to say that you only have to take 9 hours, you can go at the pace of the person you are discipling.
This free to use course covers the basics of Christianity. Topics such as “Who is Jesus?” and the Bible are essential to the spiritual health of the new believer in Christ. Once completed, the new believer will have a secure foundation from which to grow in faith.
The Turning App provides immediate access to the course. There is also a booklet available for you to give to the people you disciple, along with a Bible. If you have not done so, we highly recommend that you download and install the Turning app straight away. See taclac.co.uk/the-turning-app/ for details on how to download the app for your phone, and what to do next once it is installed.
As well as providing topics, guidance and scriptures, the course also includes great ways to connect with the responder. You will find this to be a great resource.
Outreach Testimonies
We heard from those who took part in the outreach opportunity on Saturday 19 February. It was the day after Storm Eunice passed over London and her tail lashed Vauxhall with wind and rain, even a day later. Despite this, a number of All Nations’ Centre members braved the wind and soaking rain to put their training into practice. They were not disappointed: 11 people responded to the script.
“I felt a bit nervous to begin with, but I think once you sort of commit everything, you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you to the person as people were walking past.” – Susan
There were challenges! One person they met could not speak English. They used a translation app to ask the questions and the person responded to the script. They discovered very quickly how powerful the script was. It helped them to focus their time and people really responded to it! The reason for this is that the script avoids many of the arguments that people get into when discussing Christianity. Questions outside the script were deferred until such time as someone could get back to them. Having obtained their details, these were put on the database and allocated to evangelists to follow up with.
“The script was very useful. It was concise! You could go straight to the point without going forward backward.” – Caroline Adeniyi
If you missed this great opportunity, there is another coming up on Saturday 26 February. Meet at the All Nations’ Centre, Tyers Terrace, London SE11 5LZ for 12 noon.
The National Turning Team will be providing additional training in March. Watch the announcements for dates. The Cell Groups will also be getting involved in outreach. Speak to your Group Leader for more information.
