What King Saul Failed to Understand – Pt 2

Theme: Old Testament Narratives with Timeless Lessons In this week’s sermon, Pastor Abraham Sackey returns to 1 Samuel 15 with part two of the message, “What King Saul Failed to Understand.”

As we journey through this passage, we clearly see the missteps that paved the way for Saul’s downfall: He overlooked the historical context behind his divine assignment. He neglected to examine his heart, allowing pride and fear to take root. And as a result, his disobedience led to catastrophic consequences—he forfeited the kingdom.

Moreover, Saul’s failure didn’t stop at his actions; it reflected a deeper spiritual blindness. He ignored prophetic correction in 1 Samuel 13, revealing a pattern of dismissing God’s detail-oriented instructions.

So where does that leave us?
Are we paying attention to the fine print in God’s Word, or are we approaching His commands with casual indifference? Saul chose to fear the people rather than revere God—and that decision cost him everything.

Consequently, we’re reminded that obedience is greater than sacrifice, and rebellion carries weighty spiritual consequences.

Join us as we reflect on these timely questions and grow in our understanding of God’s Word. Let your faith be challenged—and strengthened.

We meet in person at the All Nations’ Centre, Tyers Terrace, London SE11 5LY. You are very welcome to join us. All our Sunday Services start at 9.30 am. The doors open at 8.30 am, and the prayer service begins at 9 am. The All Nations’ Centre is where the community meets with God as a congregation. Please help us to make it a welcoming environment for all.

There are many advantages to meeting together. As the writer of the book of Hebrews writes, “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25) Do not miss this opportunity to meet and encourage your brothers and sisters! Often, we provide personal ministry and one-to-one encounters. Do not miss the opportunity to meet with God and be transformed.
